No more english...

Since google now provides excelent (not really) translation help. We will change language on the blog to svenska.

I can do "manly stuff" too...

Today was the day I started with "manly stuff" in the Mini project. Mårten let me try out some of his electric devices.
In a few minutes he noticed that cutting steel and welding things together was something I was born to do. When asked to take a picture of the event he really tryed to make it as blurry and crappy as he could. Is he jealous of my skills...?

Doers does what doers does

As we like to do things we decided to gather a few friends and go racing.
Since the Mini is: A) Not yet drivable B) To nice to drive in a Folk race we decided to buy an old SAAB 9000 16v on the way back from the Minigarage road trip.

Will the car drive for five hours on the muddy track of Sundsta? Time will tell...

A few test laps and now the SAAB is ready for racing.

We have a Minigarage subframe!

Last weekend we went on a short road trip to Gnesta. When we came back we had a brand new (very nice looking) subframe built to fit the Swift GTI engine into our Mini.

Crazy R us! (Part 2)

One impossible thing when repairing an old Minis is to remove a couple of "rubber ball things" that are located in the subframe without using a special tool (could it be the same tool that is used to remove Swift stearing wheels?).

As we did not know this was impossible I removed them with my very special tool - my hands!

Crazy R us!

You might be wondering how we got the engine out (actually everybody thinks we did this in a very strange way).

As we don´t like to creap and crawl very much we decided that we should try to remove the engine while the "gearlever-shield-thingy" was still in place. The plan worked pretty good. We had to lift the front of the engine and push down the "gearlever-sield-thingy" while at the same time lifting the front of the car. Now the tricky part is to convince everybody this is how we really did it...

Dashboard ideas

We have a couple of ideas about the dashboard, one of them is to keep the swift dash,
I brought it home to my garage to give it a try.

Pieces put together

Cut into two

Things are getting more obvious the more we work together -
Mårten likes big machines that makes noice and creates smoke in some way.

Examples:

When removing the fuel pump this is how Mårten started...

When removing the drive shaft it looked like this:

Me? I´m more into sitting in my kitchen and repairing small things that Mårten has destroyed with his big machines.

We are a perfect team!
